The New Traditional

November 28, 2011 by Elizabeth Boland

If the latest issue of House Beautiful doesn’t make you drool, than I don’t know what will. The spread featuring Mark D. Sikes, an LA based visual merchandiser, home is stunning! Sikes and his partner Michael Griffin collect blue and white porcelain, coral, ikats and vintage accessories. Every detail in the house is unique, from the Dorothy Draper inspired high gloss black front door and blue hand painted portuguese powder room tiles, to the random Paris Flea Market treasures layered with books, baskets, artwork and accessories.
I think I’m in love with the New Traditional.

and here I thought my Mom had too many old magazines!

pretty much my new favorite bathroom

About Elizabeth Boland

I am a wife, Mom, and an Interior Designer. I love my job, and I love the fact that I get to work with one of my best friends. My Mom and I are partners in our Washington DC based design firm, Wilson Boland Design. In January 2010, we opened an Interior Design Studio in downtown Bethesda, which has evolved just as much as our business!

I started Haute Indoor Couture in the spring of 2011 to share portfolio pictures, inspiring ideas, and fellow designers with our clients and friends. I live for Interior Design and I love sharing my passion and enthusiasm with my readers. Most of the content you will find here is interior design, architecture, fashion, or canine related. Ready for your next project? Let's work together!
